Brief History: S.O.Tech first produced the quick disconnect riggers belt back in the late 90's using one of AustriAlpin's original "Click Lock" buckle originally used on hang gliding straps. The "Click Lock" buckle has now evolved into what me know today as the AustriAlpin Cobra Buckle... an industry standard.
Riggers belts get their name from parachute riggers who used to take scrap material and make belts from them. The V ring on the belt is designed for securing yourself into a helicopter or airplane safety line. Lately it has become popular as an emergency rappel seat. While our belts are strong enough to support a persons weight, it's important to note that this isn't its intended use. For those of you who intend to use this as a repelling seat please realize that while the belt around your waist is strength rated, there are no leg straps... and the only thing holding your belt to your waist are your belt loops which are not strength rated. If you are lucky enough to not have your belt loops rip apart and have the belt slid up into your armpits... you will at least have a serious wedgie, which is uncomfortable in itself. Use at your own risk.

Note: For those who want to use this belt as a rappelling seat, please realize that while the belt around your waist is strength rated, there are no leg straps and the only thing holding the belt to your waist are your belt loops (and we have yet to see a pair of pants that come with strength ratings). If the belt does not separate and end up in your armpits, you will at least have the wedgie of a lifetime.
